Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
As we approach the Lent season (5 March to 17 April 2025), we are called to reflect, repent, and renew our commitment to God. This year, the Creation Care Ministry invite you to participate in a Carbon Fast, focusing on our role as stewards of God's creation. Over the six weeks of Lent, we will explore how we can reduce our carbon footprint and care for the environment that God has entrusted to us.
The key objectives of the Carbon Fast are:
• Reduce personal carbon footprint by making conscious lifestyle changes.
• Increase environmental awareness and the connection between faith and creation care
• Spiritual reflection
• Participate in the carbon fast programme
Each week, we will feature a devotional message by Dr Eileen Poh and a focus area of carbon reduction, connecting our environmental actions to Scripture and our faith journey.
These are the six focus areas of carbon reduction:
• Food
• Transport
• Energy & water
• Waste – reduce
• Waste – reuse & repurpose
• Waste – recycle
For a start, you may consider the following:.
• Reflect on our role as stewards of God’s creation
• Calculate your carbon footprint. Take note of the activities that are carbon intensive.
• Review and pray about your consumption habits. Set at least one concrete goal to reduce your carbon footprint.
We encourage you to participate in this Carbon Fast. By doing so, we not only care for God's creation but also set an example of responsible stewardship for our community and future generations.
